Absolutely, infect is a form of combat damage. The special thing about infect is how the damage is dealt. Instead of chipping away at life totals or creature toughness in the usual way, infect creatures deal damage in the form of poison counters to players and -1/-1 counters to creatures. This makes creatures with infect particularly dangerous and a swift way to end games.

Yes, infect does count as combat damage in Magic The Gathering. When a creature with infect deals damage to creatures, it gives them -1/-1 counters instead of the regular damage. And when it hits a player, it gives that player poison counters instead of normal life loss. So, if your creepy crawler with infect sneaks through, it's delivering its nasty effects as combat damage!

Nah, I'd rather say infect is more like a status effect than actual damage. Sure, it technically counts during combat, but it doesn't whittle down life points directly.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
