Max-ranked items don't take up any XP. Once they're fully leveled, use that precious XP to level up your other items.

From my experience, max rank items no longer gain XP. Perfect time to try out new weapons or Warframes!

Nope, once an item hits max rank (30), it stops gaining affinity (XP). So, feel free to spread the XP love to your other gear!
