Does opening your Steam Deck void the warranty?
WarningSquad路7 months agoOpening it doesn't void the warranty per se, but if you turn your Steam Deck into a fancy paperweight while trying to upgrade it, that's on you. Valve allows it, but don't expect them to bail you out if things go south.

Nah, opening your Steam Deck doesn't immediately void the warranty. Valve's pretty chill about it. They've mentioned that users can open the device for repairs or upgrades without voiding the warranty. But, and it's a big but, if you mess something up while tinkering, that damage isn't covered. So, wield that screwdriver wisely!
Just a heads up, directly from the horse's mouth: You can open your Steam Deck to swap out parts or upgrade it and your warranty stays intact. Valve's been clear on this. However, any damage you cause during your DIY adventure is on you.
