Does playing a creature go on the stack in Magic: The Gathering?
BeatingDebit路7 months agoYup, playing a creature card does indeed use the stack in MTG. This means your opponents have a chance to respond with instants or activated abilities before the creature hits the battlefield. Remember though, once it resolves and is on the battlefield, it's a different ball game with summoning sickness and all that jazz unless it has haste.

Actually, to be super clear, casting a creature spell goes on the stack, but the actual creature entering the battlefield doesn't. Once everyone's done responding to it and it resolves, it just plops onto the battlefield ready to rumble (or sit dizzily with summoning sickness unless it's got haste).
Nah, creatures just slam down, no stack needed. Just kidding! Casting a creature spell definitely uses the stack. This is the moment where everyone gets to have their say with responses before the creature gets cozy on the battlefield.
