Yep, the original 'fat' PS3 models can play PS2 games, but the Slim and Super Slim versions can't. Keep that in mind while hunting for a used PS3!
Nope, most PS3 models can't play PS2 games. Better stick to original hardware or look into remasters.
From my own experience, I had the 60GB launch model, and it worked like a charm with my PS2 games. But my friend's PS3 Slim couldn't play them. So, it's all about which model you have!
