Nope, they don't charge you right away for pre-orders. They'll usually take the payment a few days before the release date.
Pre-ordered a game last year, and they charged me about 5 days before launch. So, you've got some time to change your mind!
From my experience, pre-orders get charged a bit before the game comes out, typically around a week prior.
