Does 'Protect' in MTG stop combat damage if you're blocking?

Absolutely! If a creature has protection from a specific color (say, red), it can't be dealt damage by red sources. So if you're blocking a red creature with your creature that has protection from red, your creature won't take any damage. It's like having an invisible shield against anything of that color.

Nope, protection stops a lot of things, but it won't save you from combat damage. Just kidding! It totally does. Protection in MTG is basically a Swiss Army knife - it prevents damage from any source of the color it's protected from, including combat damage. So, block away and watch your opponent's frustration.

Protection does indeed stop combat damage. Think of it as your creature wearing a full-body armor that only blocks specific colors. When blocking, if the attacker's color matches your protection, their blows just bounce off. Very handy in tight spots!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
