Does Protection Work on the Stack in MTG?
InterferingHood·7 months agoNope, protection doesn't work on the stack in MTG. Protection stops a card from being damaged, enchanted, blocked, or targeted by anything it has protection from, but once a spell is on the stack, protection won’t prevent it from resolving. So, if your creature has protection from red and your opponent casts a red spell targeting it, if the spell is already on the stack, your creature's protection doesn’t stop the spell from doing its thing.

Short answer: No. Protection works on the battlefield, not on the stack. Think of it like sunscreen. It's great at preventing sunburn (damage from sources it's protected from) but doesn't help if you’re already burned (a spell is on the stack targeting it).
Actually, it depends on what you're asking. While protection in MTG doesn't directly interact with the stack, it does prevent a spell or ability from targeting if the object has protection from the characteristics of that spell or ability. But remember, if the spell doesn’t target, or it's already on the stack, protection won't help.
