Does reconfigure count as equip in Magic The Gathering?
Nope, reconfigure does NOT count as equip in MTG. Think of reconfigure as a cousin to equip - both let you attach stuff to creatures, but they follow their own rules. Reconfigure is specifically for turning an artifact creature into an Equipment and attaching it, while equip is just the regular old attaching Equipment to a creature. Different mechanics, different rules!

Short answer: No. Reconfigure and equip are two separate abilities.
Absolutely not. As someone who's lost count of how many MTG battles I've fought, take it from me: reconfigure ain't the same animal as equip. Learned that the hard way against a buddy's tricky deck. They might seem similar since both deal with equipment, but the rules and use cases are distinct.
