Does Sacrifice Get Past Protection in MTG?
Yep, sacrifice can definitely skirt around protection in MTG. Protection stops things like damage, enchanting, blocking, and targeting from whatever it's protected from. Since sacrificing a creature doesn't target the creature or deal damage (you're just sending it to the graveyard as part of a cost or effect), protection doesn't do squat against it.

Here's the hot take: Sacrifice effects are the bane of protection abilities. Protection might save your creature from being targeted or taking damage, but when it comes to sacrificing, it's like protection isn't even there. RIP to all protected creatures sacrificed.
Can confirm from personal heartbreak: had my prized creature with protection ready to turn the tide of the game. Opponent plays a card forcing me to sacrifice it. Protection didn鈥檛 help at all. It was a sad day for my deck.
