Hot take, but yes, Spell Syphon counts islands. Why? Because islands are lands and this card doesn't discriminate based on the type. It's all mana in the end!

Absolutely, Spell Syphon does count islands in its calculation! In MTG, islands are lands, and since Spell Syphon's effectiveness is based on the number of lands the opponent controls, every island lying around boosts its power. So, you better believe those peaceful-looking patches of water are working hard behind the scenes!

Yep, islands count. I was playing last night and my opponent ramped up his islands early game. When I cast Spell Syphon, we counted each of those tranquil water masses. Turned out, those islands made my spell way cheaper. Islands definitely matter for Spell Syphon.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
