Does Steam throttle downloads?
ImplementingPons路7 months agoFrom personal experience, I've never felt like Steam was holding back my download speeds. It usually zooms unless my own net is acting up. But you can actually limit download speeds in Steam's settings if you need to, so it's kinda in your control.

Actually, it's not Steam, it's your ISP. Some Internet Service Providers might throttle speeds during peak times, which affects all your downloads, not just Steam.
Steam doesn't throttle, but remember you can manage your bandwidth from the settings if you think it's hogging all your internet.
I gotta disagree with most here. Ever noticed slowdowns during major sales or game releases? Sure feels like throttling to me.
Nope, Steam itself doesn't intentionally throttle your downloads. It's all about your internet connection and the server load. However, during big sales or game launches, things might slow down due to high traffic, but that's more about the server getting swamped than Steam putting a cap on your speed.
