Yup, Ubisoft Connect does indeed work on the Steam Deck. You've gotta manually install it, but once you do, it's pretty smooth sailing. Nope, don't bother. Steam's got plenty. Why complicate things with more launchers? Stick to the Steam library; it's vast and varied enough.
Short answer: Yes, but it requires a bit of setup. Ubisoft Connect isn't directly supported through the SteamOS interface, but since the Steam Deck runs on a full-fat version of Linux, you can get Ubisoft Connect up and running with a bit of tinkering.
