I've been grinding Valorant since release and here's my take: playing unrated seriously upgrades your game sense and mechanics. While it doesn't count towards placement matches directly, being better prepared definitely helps you perform better. So indirectly, yeah, it affects your placements by making you a better player.
Short answer: Not really. Unrated is its own beast. Focus on doing your best in placement matches for rank.
