Short answer: not really. The manufacturers caught onto the weighing trick and changed the packaging to make it a lot harder. You're better off just enjoying the surprise!

Weighing Pokemon cards used to be a thing because heavier packs often meant there was a foil card inside, which are usually rarer and more valuable. However, with recent changes and the introduction of guaranteed foil cards in most packs, plus better distribution of weights by the manufacturers, it's not as reliable a method as it once was. You might find some slight variation, but the odds of accurately predicting the contents based on weight alone are slim.

Tried it last month, thinking I could snag some rare cards for my collection. Ended up with a bunch of regular cards and a lighter wallet. Save your time and enjoy the game as it's meant to be!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
