Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) diverges from the manga around halfway, creating its own unique storyline. Brotherhood (2009) stays true to the manga's plot.

FMA 2003 has darker themes and a more somber tone, while Brotherhood delivers a story that's more aligned with the manga, featuring faster pacing and more action.

I've watched both, and let me tell ya, Brotherhood feels more complete and cohesive. The 2003 series took creative liberties, which made it a different but still awesome experience.

Brotherhood sticks closely to the manga, so if you're a fan of the original story, you'll probably enjoy it more. The 2003 version? A whole other ride!
