It's all about scale (pun intended)! Hot Wheels has been around since 1968 and they've perfected mass production over the years. Producing cars in large volumes helps keep costs down. Plus, they use a mix of in-house designs and licensed models, which keeps variety up and production costs manageable. They're designed to be affordable, so kids (and adults, who are we kidding?) can collect them without breaking the bank.

Honestly, I think they could charge more. The joy those little cars bring is worth a lot more than the price tag.

Economies of scale, baby! They crank out millions of these little cars, which slashes production costs. Also, diecast metal and plastic are relatively cheap materials. It's like magic - but with manufacturing.
