How are MTG Cards Cut?

MTG cards go through a precision cutting process during manufacturing. Basically, large printed sheets of the cards are fed into a specialized machine that precisely cuts them into individual cards. This ensures they're all the same size for fairness in gameplay. The edges might feel a bit different from set to set since the cutting blades can wear over time, but overall, Wizards of the Coast aims for consistency in the size and cut of the cards.

They're cut with lasers, I swear! Okay, not really, but it's super precise machinery that does the job. Think less 'pew pew' and more 'slice slice' with industrial cutters. Each card is identically sized so you can't tell them apart when they're facedown.

Ever notice how some MTG cards have rougher edges? That's all in the cutting process. They use machine cutters, but not all cuts are created equal. Still, does the job well enough.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!
