Super mutants in Fallout 76 are just as you'd expect if you've encountered them in previous Fallout games - big, mean, and a whole lot of trouble. They're scattered across West Virginia, and they're not too keen on sharing the wasteland with Vault Dwellers. Definitely bring your A-game (and maybe a friend) when you decide to take them on!
