How Big Do Terraria Rooms Have to Be?
Honestly, as long as it's not too tiny, you're good. I once made a room 5x12, and my NPCs were happy as clams. Just make sure you’ve got walls, a light source, a door, and furniture like a table and chair, and you're set!

Terraria doesn't have strict size rules, but for a room to be considered valid housing for NPCs, it needs to be at least 60 total tiles, not counting the walls, floor, or ceiling. So, you can go with something like a 6x10 room if you wanna get technical. Make sure it’s not too cramped, or your NPCs won’t move in!
Minimum size? Make it at least 60 tiles, but don't forget the comfort! A cozy space is a happy space. ?
Just build whatever! Terraria is all about creativity. If it looks like a room to you, it's a room.
