Three players can battle it out in Super Smash Bros Ultimate by using any combination of controllers (Joy-Cons, Pro Controllers, GameCube controllers) and battling in either local multiplayer or online. Go to 'Smash' mode, then 'Smash', select your characters and stages, and you're good to go.
