How can you tell what edition a Pokemon card is?
DroppingSway路7 months agoMost of the time, checking the lower part of the card does the trick. Symbols or text there can tell you if it's a Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, or something newer. And hey, if there's a little "1" with a circle around it, congrats, you've got a 1st Edition!

Just google the card, honestly. I tried memorizing symbols and stuff but ended up spending more time searching anyway. Easier than playing detective with every card.
Pro tip: The absence of a symbol on the base set cards means you got yourself one from the original run. No symbol? Consider it a treasure from the good ol' days.
Lol, just flip the card over and squint a bit. But really, you can tell the edition of a Pokemon card by looking at the tiny symbols, usually found at the bottom of the card, to the right. Each symbol or lack thereof tells you the set it belongs to and sometimes the print run (like 1st Edition or not). First Edition cards, for example, have a specific "Edition 1" symbol. No sweat once you know where to look!
