Not very closely, especially after the first season. Reading the manga offers a much richer and more faithful story.
If you love the manga, the anime might feel like an entirely different beast after season one. But both have their own charm!
The first season of Tokyo Ghoul follows the manga pretty closely, but the second season, Tokyo Ghoul √A, takes a lot of creative liberties. Basically, if you're a manga purist, you'll notice quite a few differences starting in season two!
