Here's a hot take: Combat damage is actually the easiest part of MTG. Just add up power, subtract from toughness, and there you go. What's trickier is keeping track of all those abilities and keywords that twist the basic rules!

In Magic The Gathering, combat damage is fairly straightforward! When creatures battle, each one deals damage equal to its power to the other. If multiple creatures are blocking a single attacker, the attacker's controller orders the blockers at the start of combat damage, and then the damage is assigned in that order. But remember, all combat damage happens simultaneously, unless you're dealing with first strike or double strike shenanigans!

Had a game last night where combat damage really came into play. My 4/4 was blocked by a 2/2 and a 3/3. I had to assign my creature鈥檚 4 damage between them. Luckily, I could take out the 3/3 first, as per the order I set. Trust me, making wise choices in how you order blockers can turn the tide of battle.

Just remember the golden rule: Power equals damage. If you're attacking or blocking, whatever your creature's power is, that's the damage it dishes out. Got a 3/3? It's swinging for 3 damage. Facing two blockers? Divide your attacker's damage based on the order you choose for the blockers. Simple as that!
