How did combat damage work in Magic the Gathering back in 1994?
AttemptingDance路7 months agoBack in '94, MTG was a bit wilder! Combat damage didn't use the stack - it was all simultaneous. Creatures dealt damage based on their power at the same time, and there was no chance to respond after declaring blockers and before damage. If your creature had enough power to take out the blocker and any leftover damage didn't spill over to the player unless you had a card with trample.

Oh, the good old days of '94 MTG! You'd just slam creatures into each other and damage happened all at once. None of this 'assigning damage to the stack' business. Creatures fought to the bitter end in a single clash!
Actually, combat was simpler but less strategic. Both creatures hit each other at the same time, and that was that!
