In Dragon Ball Z, the first time Goku dies, he sacrifices himself by holding Raditz in place so Piccolo's attack can hit. He also dies again during the Cell Saga, teleporting an about-to-explode Cell away to save Earth. Goku’s a master of heroic sacrifices!

Hot take: Goku doesn’t stay dead for long; Dragon Balls got his back!

Yup, he dies in DBZ when he takes Raditz down and later during the Cell Games saving everyone from Cell's self-destruction.

Goku's died a few times! First in Dragon Ball Z, he sacrifices himself to save Earth from Raditz by holding him while Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon hits them both. Then he dies again during the Cell Saga, teleporting Cell away and exploding with him. But don’t worry, the Dragon Balls always seem to bring him back!
