Hide's fate is a bit mysterious. In the anime, it seems Kaneki finds him gravely injured and carries him through a battlefield, hinting that Hide might have died in Kaneki's arms. However, in the manga, it's later revealed that Hide survived and resurfaces under a new identity, Scarecrow.

In the anime, Hide is severely wounded during the attack on Anteiku, and Kaneki finds him bleeding out. It's heavily implied that Hide died after Kaneki carries him away. But plot twist! In the manga, Hide actually survives and comes back later.

Died? Nah, Hide just took a long nap before coming back to surprise everyone later in the manga.
