So Hide's death is kinda up for interpretation. In the anime, it looks like he died after getting caught in the battle and seemingly having his throat cut by Kaneki. but then you find out later he is actually alive but he has to live with his injuries in secret. Talk about a plot twist!

In the manga, Hide's fate is left ambiguous for a while because it鈥檚 revealed he survived and joins Kaneki later.

Technically, Hide didn't die! He was badly injured and went into hiding. The anime makes it confusing, I know. Trust me, I was shocked too!

If we go by the anime alone, it looks like Hide died due to injuries while trying to save Kaneki. But surprise, he's alive in the manga! What a rollercoaster, right?
