How did Magellan die in One Piece?

Magellan didn't actually die in One Piece. There's a common misconception due to his heavy defeat at the hands of Blackbeard and his crew during the Impel Down arc. He was severely injured but later on, it’s mentioned he survived and continues to work at Impel Down.

Magellan is very much alive. Last I checked, he got a demotion but he’s still doing his thing in Impel Down. Classic case of rumors getting out of hand.
