Serra didn't exactly 'die' in the traditional sense. She kinda just faded away after her realm was overrun by Phyrexians. It's more like she lost her will to exist rather than being killed outright. Very MTG-esque tragic.

Serra, one of the most iconic figures in MTG lore, met her demise from the relentless attacks of Phyrexian invaders on her own realm. Her once-peaceful sanctum was corrupted, and despite her power, she couldn't fend off the darkness. Overwhelmed by despair from seeing her creation destroyed, she eventually died from a broken heart, a poignant end for a character who symbolized purity and protection.

Short answer: Serra succumbed to despair after Phyrexians wrecked her realm. Not really combat-related, more of an emotional defeat.
