Hot Wheels Color Shifters change color because of thermochromic paint. Basically, this paint changes when it gets warm or cold, so when you dip your car in warm water, it changes to one color, and when you splash it with cold, it shifts back. It's like magic, but with science!

Just science, folks - no real magic. The cars are coated in a special paint that reacts to temperature changes. Warmth = one color. Cold = another. Simple as that.

It's all about the temperature-sensitive paint, my friend. I dunked my Color Shifter in warm water and it turned from a slick black to an awesome red. Then, I put it in the fridge, and it went back to black. It never gets old!
