Hot Wheels pack a punch of potential energy when they're perched at the top of a track. Thanks to gravity, when you let them go, that stored energy converts into kinetic energy, making them zoom down the track. It's all about their position up high before the race starts - that's where the potential energy comes from.

Had a Hot Wheels track set up from my bedroom down to the kitchen as a kid. I'd launch them from the top shelf. The higher they started, the faster they shot down. That's potential energy in action. It's what gives them the speed boost - simple physics.

They're just toy cars, dude. Potential energy? It's gravity. High up = more gravity power.
