How do I temporarily cancel my Facebook account?
To temporarily deactivate your Facebook account, go to Settings & Privacy, click Settings, then click Account Ownership and Control. From there, choose Deactivation and Deletion, then select Deactivate Account and follow the prompts.

I did this last week! Just head to Settings, find 'Deactivation and Deletion', hit 'Deactivate Account', and you'll be off Facebook until you decide to return.
Why deactivate? Just log out and take a break. Easy peasy and no settings to fiddle with.
