It's pretty easy! Just open the Facebook app, tap on the three lines in the top right, go to 'Settings & Privacy', then 'Settings'. Scroll down to 'Account Ownership and Control', tap 'Deactivation and Deletion', choose 'Deactivate Account', and follow the prompts.
Why not just delete it? But if you're sure, follow the usual path: Menu > Settings > Account Ownership > Deactivate.
