The only way to delete Messenger fully is to deactivate your Facebook account. But, at least you can uninstall the app if that's too much.
I've uninstalled Messenger in favor of a quieter life. Just press the app icon and follow the delete prompts!
Uninstall it from your phone, easier than unfriending that weird uncle who sends you too many farm requests!
