You can't actually delete Meta AI on Facebook, but you can turn it off. Just go to Settings > Privacy > Meta AI settings and switch it off.
It's permanent. But you can manage its features in the settings if it's bothering you.
I tried to delete Meta AI too, but turns out it's not possible. Just toggled off the intrusive parts in settings.
