Why delete it when you can just deactivate and come back later?
I deleted Facebook last year and it's been amazing. Go to Settings, choose 'Your Facebook Information', and then 'Delete Account'. Easy peasy!
Just go to Settings & Privacy -> Settings -> Your Facebook Information -> Deactivation and Deletion. From there, choose 'Delete Account', follow the steps, and you're free!
