First, open Messenger and tap on the people icon at the bottom. Find the person you want to delete and tap their name. Tap the info icon (it's the ‘i’ in a circle) and then tap 'Block.' This removes them from your Messenger contacts.
Why delete when you can just mute? But, if you insist, go to the chat, tap the person's name, and hit 'Remove Contact.'
Just block 'em! Open the chat, tap on their name at the top, scroll down, and hit 'Block.' Easy peasy.
