You gotta equip it in your Gear Wheel first, then use it from there in the open-world zones. It's super straightforward!
Ugh, just put it in your Gear Wheel and select it in the open world. Done.
First, go to your Gear Wheel (accessible through the Arsenal in your ship). Add the fishing spear—like the Lanzo, Tulok, or Peram Spear— to one of your gear slots. Then, while in the Plains or Orb Vallis, open your Gear Wheel and select the spear. Happy fishing!
