Fishing in lava in Terraria isn't as straightforward as fishing in water! You'll need a few things first: a Hotline Fishing Hook, which you can only get as a rare drop from the Angler after completing 25 quests, or you can use the Lavaproof Fishing Hook accessory or Lavaproof Tackle Bag. These let you use any fishing rod to fish in lava. Also, consider using the Lavaproof Bug Net to catch critters in the Underworld for bait, as normal bait won't survive the heat!
Honestly, fishing in lava is more trouble than it's worth. Stick to water, folks. The loot's not that great.
