Actually, you can't really 'get in' the cot, per se. It's more like your character does a cute little animation to indicate they're resting. So, just press 'A' when facing it.
To get in your cot in Animal Crossing, just walk up to it and press the 'A' button. Your character will then hop right in! Easy peasy.
