Honestly, just focus on Mega Raids. That's the most efficient way.
To get Mega Candy in Pokemon GO, you need to participate in Mega Raids and defeat the Mega Evolved Pokemon. Winning these raids will reward you with Mega Energy for the specific Pokemon you fought.
From personal experience, doing as many Mega Raids as possible got me the most Mega Energy quickly. Plus, it's a fun group activity!
