Just check the light bar - if it's glowing in any color when plugged in, it's charging. No light? No dice.

Pro tip from personal experience: the light bar on the controller will glow orange when charging. Once it's fully charged, it turns off.

When you plug in your PS4 controller, the light bar should glow an amber color. If it's pulsing, it's definitely charging!

An easy way to tell is to press the PS button. If the battery icon shows a lightning bolt, you're in business.
