Check the logo on your console. The PS1 has 'PlayStation' with a colorful logo, PS2 has a blue PS2 logo, PS3 is written out in a sleek font, PS4 has a sharp white 'PS4', and PS5 has a futuristic 'PS5' emblem. Easy peasy!

Just google the design of each PlayStation console and compare them to yours. It’s like a game of ‘Spot the Difference’ but with consoles!
If you still have the box, the model number or name should be on it. If it's gone, look at the back or bottom of the console for a model number and search it up!
What's the controller like? The PS5’s DualSense has that awesome haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Anything else? Probably an earlier model.
