Only certain PS3 models are natively backwards compatible with PS2 games. Look for the original 20GB or 60GB models—they're the lucky ones!

Check the serial number and model. The early PS3s (CECHCxx or CECHAxx) had hardware-based backwards compatibility!

Honestly, you can't make a PS3 backwards compatible if it isn't already. Look for a PS2 and relive the nostalgia!

If your PS3 isn't one of the earlier models, try using PlayStation Now to stream older games. It's not exactly the same, but it gets the job done.

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
