First, make sure to unplug everything and remove any discs. You'll need a Torx screwdriver (T10) and some patience. Start by removing the screws from the backside and work your way around. Be gentle with the internal components!

To take apart your PS3, you'll need to remove the warranty sticker on the back, use a T10 Torx screwdriver, and carefully unscrew everything. Remember where all the screws go!

My friend! I've done this a few times. Start with removing the hard drive cover and hard drive, then take off the top cover screws. Open it up gently and you'll see all the magic inside.

Hot take: Don't! Just send it to a professional if it's broken. Saves time and stress.

Honestly, unless you have experience, I鈥檇 recommend watching a detailed video tutorial. It's easy to mess things up!

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
