To activate the Bug Zapper in Spyro, you need to unlock Sparks' abilities. In the Reignited Trilogy, finish any of the speedway challenges and Zap will be yours for the taking!

I've played through Spyro many times and once you've completed a speedway level, the Bug Zapper feature will kick in automatically. No buttons needed!
