Turn on your Xbox 360, go to the dashboard, and sign in to your Xbox Live account. Insert the LEGO Dimensions disc, and if an update is available, it should prompt you to download and install it automatically.

Make sure you're logged into Xbox Live, then simply start the game. If there's an update, the console will handle the rest for you.

Just pop in the LEGO Dimensions disc and wait for the update prompt to appear. Easy peasy!

If your console doesn't prompt for an update automatically, go to 'My Games & Apps,' find LEGO Dimensions, and check for updates manually by pressing the 'Start' button and selecting 'Manage game'.
