How do I update my Animal Crossing?
Updating Animal Crossing is super easy! Just make sure your Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet. Then, on the Home menu, hover over the Animal Crossing icon, press the + or - button on your controller to open the options menu, and select 'Software Update' followed by 'Via the Internet'. The game will check for updates and download any available ones. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Honestly, the game practically updates itself if you've got an internet connection. My Switch just downloads updates while I'm asleep. So if you're not seeing an update, maybe it's already done?
