Why not set your apps to update automatically? Then you don't have to worry about it.

On iOS: Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, scroll down to see pending updates, and update Words with Friends from there. For Android: Open Google Play Store, tap the menu icon, select 'My apps & games,' and update Words with Friends from that list.
